Space for Humanity is organizing the planet’s first Sponsored Citizen Astronaut Mission, where leaders, from any walk of life, can apply for an opportunity to go to space and experience the Overview Effect: the cognitive shift in awareness that occurs when a human being looks down on the Earth from space. Each year, a new crew is selected from a diverse group of leaders from around the globe. Upon their return, each citizen astronaut has a commitment to leveraging that experience for the collective good. Our mission is to expand access to space, train our leaders of tomorrow, and contribute to a culture of interconnectedness as we venture into the stars. Through our citizen spaceflight program, leadership training, and collaborative efforts to educate the public, we are setting the stage to create the world we want, both here on Earth and throughout the cosmos. We believe our future in space will be determined by who we resolve to be on Earth, today.

The flickering flame will symbolize not only the historic miracle of the oil but also the enduring spirit and unity that transcends beyond our planet. As they gather to recite the blessings and enjoy some space-modified latkes, these explorers of the cosmos will connect with their roots and with people celebrating Hanukkah all around the world. 🛰️ SPACE 4 HISTORY - MARINER 2 On December 14, 1962, NASA's Mariner 2 spacecraft made history by becoming the first to successfully study another planet up close. Mariner 2 flew by Venus at a range of 34,762 km (21,600 miles), revealing fascinating details about our celestial neighbor. Key discoveries included: Surface temperature of 425°C (797°F) on both day and night sides—hot enough to melt lead! Venus rotates in the opposite direction from most planets in our solar system. The atmosphere is mostly carbon dioxide with very high pressure, continuous cloud cover, and no detectable magnetic field. Solar wind streams continuously and cosmic dust density is much lower between planets than near Earth. Scientists discovered essential fatty acids vital for brain and eye development, which have been incorporated into baby formula, offering enhanced nutrition for infants unable to breastfeed. This has provided a crucial alternative for parents worldwide. Vacuum Packed Food Vacuum packing technology was created to extend the shelf life of food for long-duration space missions. By removing air from packaging, it prevents spoilage and maintains freshness. This technology is now widely used in the food industry, reducing waste and helping ensure food safety and quality. Freeze Dried Food Freeze-drying, perfected for space missions, allows for lightweight, easily transportable meals that retain nutritional value.
